The Tennis Podcast Joins The Athletic Podcast Network
/We are excited to announce that The Tennis Podcast is joining The Athletic Podcast Network.
The Athletic and the New York Times will help to promote the show, particularly during the Grand Slams, when hosts Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts are covering the events on-site in Melbourne, Paris, London and New York, respectively.
“We are all huge fans of The Athletic’s journalism, particularly the breadth, depth and insight of its tennis coverage, so to be joining The Athletic Podcast Network is a thrill,” said David Law, co-host of The Tennis Podcast. “We share their commitment to covering the biggest moments of the sport on-site, from inside the stadiums and countries where they take place, so it feels like the perfect fit as we look to introduce our show to a wider audience.”
“The Tennis Podcast is the definitive show in its category and the ideal partner for us as we expand our leadership in global sports journalism,” said Jesse Burton, The Athletic's Head of Global Audio. “We’re excited to be working with David, Catherine and Matt to build the largest and most engaged community of tennis fans anywhere in the world.”
The Tennis Podcast launched in 2012, becoming the most listened-to podcast in the sport. It won Best Sport Podcast at the prestigious British Podcast Awards in 2023, and is often the No. 1 tennis podcast on Apple Podcasts across the U.S., U.K., Australia and Canada.
A New York Times profile in 2022 wrote that ‘The Tennis Podcast’ is ‘the conscience of the game and how the sport communicates with itself’. It quoted legendary broadcaster Mary Carillo, a listener and frequent guest, who said: ‘These guys know their stuff. And they’re funny. You can’t fake funny.’ Champions Billie Jean King, Chris Evert and Pam Shriver all listen regularly.
New episodes drop weekly on Mondays throughout the year and daily during all four Grand Slam tournaments. Listeners can watch and listen on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever they get their podcasts.
